Finally managed to complete this project, this is the first time doing LED lightings thus I'm pretty glad they worked out okay. However I was quite disappointed with the overall results of the project as multiple accidents as well as failures resulted in some flaws all around.

Its been a long time since I updated this blog. This is partly because of my packed schedule these days, started work immediately after my exams hence I could not find much time to do much modelling.

Astrea Update 4

A little update, sumarises the progress made the past few days. I'm sorry that the pics aren't as detailed as the last few. This is due to a few reasons.

1. I did them whenever I found extra free time, so not much planning as put into it, its kinda ad-hoc.
2. The stuff done these days are new to me too, not sure whether i was gonna succeed until I've finished it.

Now I'm gonna create a tool that I've seen in use during ine of those Plamo Tsukurou vids.

I personally used 3mm thick pla-plates, but after that i found that they are too thick. Hence i recommend using thinner pla-plates.

After doing a number of planes and cars, I've finally restarted my gundam engine. This time I'm gonna be doing a long overdue kit, one of the reason why I didn't do it when it was 1st realeased was because I couldn't get my hands on a HG Exia kit.

After a while the Exia R2 kit came out with much better articulation. Hence I decided to use it as a base kit for this conversion.

MINI affair (Part 4)

Progress has been slow the past few days, wet sanded the body parts and then procced to mask the main body so as to paint the mudguard and side skirts flat black.

Boy, was the process long and painful. This has got to be the biggest masking task I've ever done, I've never used up so much masking tape on one kit alone!

And I must say that I totally suck at masking, this is the reason why I stayed away from resin kits.

This time round things look pretty good, no visible bleeding can be seen only slight errors that have been removed by light sanding.

It is alomst 80% complete now, I've already painted the clear parts and also futured the windows now waiting for the paint to dry and see how's the results.

All thats left to do is to polish the body and assemble everything.

This is the first time I painted the underside of the car, wanted to make this kit as perfect as possible.

Similarly, I wanted to make the interior more realisitc, hence I spent more effort masking the parts and painting different parts differnt colour. All was going quite smoothly until I flat coated it. While airbrushing the flat coat, I accidentally spilled some onto the kit it self, resulting in the specks on the seat. Futhermore, slight frosting has occured near the floor of the interior. Even though the interior cannot be seen clearly once everything has been put together, I KNOW its there!!

Its been a long time since I updated this blog or started a new project. For this short December holiday, I think i might only be able to complete this model.

The outer body is generally very well done. Only slight flash lines and sink marks. Good fitting of the parts too.

The interior

Despite the interior being well-fitted, I find that the flaw of this kit is rather the lack of details of the interior. There are no racing bucket seats provided despite the fact that this is the "John Cooper Works version". There are also some inaccuracies in the details which I discovered while comparing with the brochures.
Other than these points I find that its a pretty decent kit to get!

F-14B Completed

After days of rushing, I've managed to complete the F-14B before school re-opens next week. Hastily took some photos with my friend's camera as its battery was running low. Halfway through the photo shoot the camera died on me. I'll probably re-take the photos next time, when I've bought a new camera and when I've done up a base for the F-14B

I've exprienced some difficulty in applying the decals for this kit. Not too used to these thin decals.

P.S. I'm still unable to access plamo from home. Its very frustrating not able to visit plamo. Without it I find myself suddenly very free and bored at the same time...

Its been decided, F-14D is simply not possible with the current state of progress. After much help from the helpful peeps at Plamo, I've decided to convert the F-14A to F-14B with a pair of look-alike GE engines.

I've been doing some research online about the F-14 variants and I've decided to AMS a little for this build. I'm gonna convert the F-14A that I have into a F-14D, the reasons are:

1. I've attached the wrong exhaust to the tomcat a few months back. Now I've realised my mistake I intend to correct it

2. I prefer the GE engine design that the F-14B and F-14D have rather then the original TF30 engines. Coincidentally I've got two those GE engines left over from the F-15C build.

Started re-scribing the F-14 a few days back, and there has been slow progress.

I shall let the pics do the talking, so far I've only completed the top of the body and the left side of the cockpit. Many more parts left to re scribe!!

BTW, I've just re-watched Top Gun this morning and damn that show is nice!! This is probably the umpteen time I've watched that show and I simply cannot get sick of it! Love the dogfights! Top Gun is Top Gun.

Sneak Preview!

Completed Syncbeam's F-15 this morning. Here is a sneak preview of how it looks like.

The panel lines are abit shallow on this kit hence the lines are nt very visible. Think next time must deepen the lines before painting.

The decals took me ard 2hrs to finish, do until cross-eyed.. Gonna print the base tml and it will finally be complete!

A Re-cast Special!!

Since I could not get my hands on Daiso's mouldable rubber(2-pc type), I decided to try out recasting using Bondite epoxy putty. This being my first time doing recasting I'm pretty happy with the results.

Lessons learnt:
Must open a hole for the excess epoxy putty to be squeezed out. This time my re-casted fuel tanks are slightly out of shape due to too much putty and the mould was not able to close fully.

F-15 almost ready

Nearing completion of the F-15C Eagle, painted the missles wheels engines etc. today. All that's left is:

Hopefully i would be able to return this kit to Syncbeam before school reopens.

BTW, Dad managed to find BONDITE epoxy putty near his workplace, currently trying to recast the fuel tank. Hopefully it works. Keeping my fingers crossed

Finally got my hands on a bottle of Future, tried it out on the F-15 canopy and my F-14 too.. I must say "THIS SHIT IS DOPE!!!" The canopy after glossing it with Future is damn shiny man.

The engine is UBER troublesome!! Arghz, killed alot of cells trying to glue the tiny sticks on to the engine!

Went to Daiso @ Plaza Sing yeaterday and bought a packet of rubber moulds (3 stick type). I planned to recast 2 more fuel tanks for the F-15 project that I'm currently doing.

Tried it out this afternoon and failed miserably. Whenever i put the rubber mould into the hot water after 5~10 mins the rubber mould would become very brittle and crack easily.

Worse still, the blue stick completely disintegrated into dust in the hot water and left me with a suspension of murky blue water. I had to slowly pinch out the blue dust and try to piece them back together. Afterwards, the whole clump of "clay" became very brittle and totally not suitable for use anymore.

Not sure how to carry on now, gotta sleep on it for abit.

Fortunately there wasn't alot, so i washed them off in warm soap water..

It might not be obvious in the photos, but the unevenness of the clear black is pretty bad. Although I've tested it on a piece of scrap clear plastic, the results defer quite abit. Some parts appear to be flat instead of gloss..

Update on 144 astray

Its been a long time since I've touched this kit. Today finally gathered sufficient resolve to try and complete this by January.

Reconstruct the details again using pla-plate. This is due to the seam line running across the middle which results in details being sanded off when gluing.

Filled up the holes and sharpened the end. I gotta say that i'm a sucker for sharp ends.

I regret to inform everyone that Advance Hazel, GT40 and Zaku III would probably be the last kit for this year or for many years to come. This is because I would be starting my University studies soon, and hence I may not have to time to build any more. I will try to find time to build during my holidays but nothing is guaranteed.

I am very sad that I'll have to stop modelling for a while but on the brighter side it might cure the huge burnout I'm experiencing these months. This blog will stay on, either as a place for me to rant my Uni likfe or for me to post more works whem I've the time to.

GT40 Mk.II

After doing this car I've totally gotten hooked on Car modelling!! I've learnt so much about making it shine my watching videos, reading tips on Plamo and ZeroG and through my own experimenting. I've always thought that by uding tamiya's fine compund it would turn up really shiny. Then i realised that wax is required to achieve such a shine.

I've finally completed this for Plamo's WOOB 3. I must say that it was really a rush job the past few weeks, due to studies' admin problem and other commitments. However, I've managed to complete it before school starts. Initially I tried using Digital Camo on the grey areas and paint the small pla plates red. I turned out to be horrible!!! The kit looks like its got Red Spots all over. So in the end i had to do it all over again. This is the final product, not very satisfied since it was a kit to test all the things I've learned and the paint job was done as simple as possible to make it on time. Anyway here it is.

There is nothing much to elaborate about this build. This kit has already been built for the past 2 years, decided that it was a lousy job i redid it. Basically OOB, clean colour scheme without shading. The decals came from Samuel decal.

Interior:

Exterior: I've used Gaia colour's EX-02 for this kit. Sprayed abt 5 layers left it to dry overnight and then applied the decals. So far no polishing has been done yet.

An Intersting day at the CC

Yesterday, I went to play basketball at a nearby Community Centre(CC). Since, it was in the afternoon we left our bags at a shady area near the basketball court where we could see them. One of my friend who didn't bring a bag along left his wallet,hand phone and keys on the floor beside our bags. After a while he realised that his wallet was gone! We searched around the area to see if it was misplaced. After a while, we decided that it was stolen, we went to the CC's office to report it. Luckily, the CC installed CCTVs around the place, and luckily enough it managed to capture the footage where the thief bent down and reached his hand through the fence to grab my friend's wallet.

The staff at the CC were very helpful and said that they recognised the thief, since he always came and requested for financial help. They called his house and asked him to come down to the CC to return the wallet or else they will call the cops. When the culprit rushed down to the CC, he still had the cheek to deny that he stolen anything!! He insisted that he was only picking up his own wallet. The seinor manager of the CC was very frim and allowed him to see the evidence we had against him. In the end the culprit had no choice but to admit that he had taken the wallet. However, he said that he took all the money and dropped the wallet into the post box! One thing lead to another and after a few long hours we manged to get the post office personel to come and open the mailbox to retive the wallet. That is not the end of the story, the postoffice informed my friend that he is unable to retrive the wallet immediately. He would have to go to the post office to collect it and pay another 20 dollars to retrive it!!

In the end we decided to allow the culprit to leave and not inform the police about this matter. We also informed the CC not to pursue this matter but to remind the person not to do this kind of stuff again.

A rush to finish Zaku III

Since school is starting in a few months time, I feel that I should finish this kit asap since its gonna be pretty hectic when school opens. These few days I've been trying out tips that I've learnt online from the gurus at Plamo & Zero G. I'm pretty satisfied with the results obtained. I've mainly used pla-plates to detail up the kit and added additional panel-linig on some parts. It is not excatly first class work but I feel that its ok for my first time.

However, I'm still not happy with my photography skills. I'm not sure what am I doing wrong when it comes to taking photos. The photos do not reflect how the kit looks in real life.

Anyway, here are the photos,
This is what I've completed on the Monday(30/06/08). I've managed to complete the detailing of the lower body.

NEW Project: 1/144 Astray Red Frame w/ Flight Pack

I've wanted to do this kit ever since I saw the clip Astray MSV. Initially i thought of doing it in 1/100 scale but I realised to fully scratch built the back-pack was just too troublesome and difficult for me.

The Backpack was taken from NG 1/144 M1 Astray & scratch built the wings. I've also sharpened the V-fin, the original V-fin was too fat and ugly.

Made modifications to the feet, added pla-plates to extend it.
Other simple modifications were also done to ensure easier painting later.

Filled the fins of the back pack with epoxy putty.

This is how the kit looks like as of today.

Update On Zaku III WIP

Its been a while since I've updated my blog... Been busy with some other stuff.
Anyway quite alot of hours have been spent on this kit but very little progress visible. Most of the time I've spent on trying to correct mistakes.

Here are the pics:
This is how it looked like a few weeks ago... Most major modifications done but not perfect yet

I've cut away the original front part of the feet and re-shaped it to make it look longer, currently the left foot looks horribly wrong

I've also added these parts from my old MG Nu-gundam

Tried to bulk up the arm and add details by adding a koto part, turns out horribly wrong and had to cover it up by adding pla-plates

As you all can see it this kit requires alot of sanding and it takes up alot of time,
the pics below were taken today. First coat of primer was applied to check for errors, as expected there was lot to be corrected. This shows the end-product after the second coat of primer.

The arm now is just one big block of plastic & superglue will try to detail later

Also corrected the left leg, looks better now and sanded away lots of holes and errors.

Destiny Gundam Painted

Here is a small update:

Finished painting the Destiny Gundam. Now all that is left is to do enamel wash and apply decals on the kits.

The photos were taken with my camera, but without tripod and the adequate lighting (i'm too lazy to take out and set up so many things) maybe becos of that the shadowing on the kits cannot be seen.

Plamo's WOOB:3 Zaku III WIP

This is my latest work. It is done for Plamo's WOOB:3, since they have kindly adjusted the deadline and the no. of kits acceptable.

Here's a the box art of the kit, it is the Mass Produced Zaku 3 from Double Zeta Gundam Series.

This is how it looks like originally. Looks pretty ugly in my opinion.

I didn't like the original gun that came with the kit. I've bought additional weapon set from kotobukiya. It consists of a machine gun/rifle and a large axe which is similar to the zaku's Heat Hawk.

Here I've scrapped out the plastic beside to make a wider "hole" so that it would improve the poseablilty of the kit.

Next I've cut away excess plastic from the thighs so that the legs can open wider.

The side skirts were also modified to allow the legs to open so wide:

The Front skirts were also lengthen:

Some Epoxy putty was applied to the head and sanded down to make the front of the head sharper:

So far this is wad the kit looks like:

Update on Destiny Legend

Its been a long time since i updated this blog. Here is wad I've done over the few weeks. I've basically repainted the Legend Gundam & Recreated the base. I have also been working on another project which I'll post later on.

Anyway here are some pics:
Pics of the Repainted Legend, used a lighter grey than the last time. This time I've also made the shadow less prominent. Anyway I have not applied enamel wash to the kit yet. I'm waiting to do it together with the Destiny Gundam.

Samuel Decals arrived today!!

Ordered 2 sets of decals from samuel last week. One for the Legend Gundam that i'm currently making. The other is for 1/144 Advanced hazel, which i wrecked last year. It has been sitting in my shelf for a long time, didn't have the mood to fix it up. Hoping that i'll be able to do that after this current project.

Anyway, i've repainted the legend gundam. It definately looks better now, all that is left is to panel line and apply decals. Hope to be able to post more pics soon.

Hi,its been a long time since my last post. Honestly, there hasn't been much progress on the project. So far, lots of things have not gone according to plan. Painted the base realised that it looks kinda plain. Just finish painting legend's main colour and found out that it is too dark for my liking. However, i only realised this at the end when i begun to fit the parts together, when painting i felt that the colour was ok... Oh well, looks like i have to re-paint it again.

Started this blog to share with fellow modellers my works and hope to learn something from everyone. Anyway, currently i'm working on the following project.
